The reasons are structural, not temporary. 2025 marked the fifth consecutive year the silver market recorded a supply deficit, meaning demand has outpaced mining output for five straight years. At the same time, industrial demand has been growing steadily. Silver is now a critical material in electric vehicles, solar panels, and AI infrastructure, none of which show signs of slowing down. Mine production has been declining for years and new mines take over a decade to bring online, so supply is not catching up quickly.
Looking into 2026, the silver market is expected to remain in deficit for a sixth consecutive year. The structural factors that drove prices higher are largely still in place. Prices may moderate from their peak, but the underlying scarcity is not going away.
