I. COLLABORATIVE WORKS
Daita Kimura, founder of The Old Curiosity Shop in London and graduate of Cordwainers College, continues the avant-garde shoemaking lineage established by John Moore in the 1980s. His work merges classical craftsmanship with London’s punk sensibility and a modern, sculptural approach to form.
After Moore’s passing in 1989, his assistant Ian Reid and later Kimura preserved the studio’s rebellious ethos through The Old Curiosity Shop, opened in Holborn in 1994. The shop’s signature “Hog Toe” silhouette became emblematic of their unconventional design language—pieces that balance functionality and artistic expression.
Now based in Japan, Kimura oversees production with local craftspeople, maintaining the brand’s integrity while evolving its British heritage through Japanese precision.
Together, we present footwear that unites legacy with experimentation.
