You may be wondering..

You may be wondering why all of our recent clothes have been black. And maybe more on why we stopped making anime-inspired items. I'll expand a little more on both in this blog post.

To start with anime -- there's so many reasons as to why we stopped making anime-inspired items. The main reason is that I feel, in some ways, it's pandering and lacks integrity. The support was honestly great and we've met a lot of awesome people through our past works. But at the end of the day, I don't watch anime or read manga anymore. I enjoyed it in my teens but it slowly phased out of my interest as I got older. Now I'm more interested in silhouettes, materials, branding, and trying to leave my mark on clothing in a more dignified and unique way. I can't really say knitted sweaters and graphic tees printed on blanks was ever really sustainable for my career.

As to why all of our clothes, or a majority at least, have been black, I've been in mourning for about two years now and it's really shown in my personal closet and my brand. This probably also contributed to the brands transition, as my closet became less colorful and full of graphic tees and jeans, my brand began to reflect the same thing. I guess to give you a better idea without getting too personal, I lost my mom in October of 2022. It definitely was one of the most excruciatingly painful experiences in my life. And I think about her everyday. I wish I got to share more of what I was doing with my work and life with her but we didn't communicate much. If I can leave you with anything, it's that you truly never know how long you have with those you love. Be kind, be forgiving, be the bigger person when it's called for, be empathetic, be communicative, and open the door to a healthy relationship with everyone around you, especially family.

P.S. Yup; we also didn't want to get sued. In addition to our designs being reproduced by t*mu, al*express, other anime-inspired brands, etc., you can probably imagine all of these things, in addition to not watching anime or reading manga, makes it uninspiring to continue doing.
