Dear diary 07 27 24

To whom it may concern:

This first blog post will be about our origins and our transition from anime-inspired clothing to atelier and avant garde inspired garments.

I started graphic designing in late 2015 under a different label. It was just me and I primarily produced stickers, tapestries, car accessories, and small batches of clothing for about 4 years. At the time I began making items, it felt like I had rediscovered my childhood love for animation. The shows and movies I digested were like pieces of art to me. They spoke to me and captivated my attention for hours if not days and weeks at a time. I felt like the media I had enjoyed so much could be translated into consumable goods for others to place and express their shared interest.

In early December of 2020, ANGELtype was born. As a reformatted version of my previous brand, ANGELtype utilized the same backend and switched from making mainly stickers and tapestries at the time, to anime-inspired clothing. We began our journey into cut and sew clothing alongside a dedicated section of entirely made in USA items.

Skipping a little bit of time here, but basically from 2016-2020 I was super interested in anime. From 2021 and on, my interest in anime slowly declined as I became more interested in self expression through silhouettes and materials and overall fit and less interested in watching TV.

In February of 2023, we introduced our more technical subdivision under the label name (A)LINE. (A)LINE garments were intended as standalone pieces exclusive to ANGELtype without any anime representation.

These items began to ring more true to the direction we were headed and ultimately led to the transition into completely cut and sew clothing with no blanks used and a lack of anime inspiration throughout our pieces.

One year later in February of 2024, we committed to not doing anime-inspired items anymore and would further push our label (A)LINE. We posted a statement about how we would discontinue the items for a future without restocks.

We would still like to make anime-inspired clothing in the future with proper licensing and arrangements through the creators in an effort to produce even more robust and timeless pieces of clothing that still express our origins.

For the time being, we have our focus planted on creating new silhouettes, fine jewelry, and limited accessories that express our current vision clearly in addition to the push to rid the site of anime-inspired items.

We hope you'll continue this journey with us: finding new ways to express ourselves and feel good doing it.
